The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Centre for Spanish-Speaking Peoples’ (CSSP) strategic plan and priorities, for enhancing its operations and programs, and the overall management of the organization. We are looking for a value-driven leader with experience in the non-for-profit sector.
Who We Are
For close to 50 years, CSSP has served the Spanish-speaking/Latin American/Latinx community in Toronto. CSSP is a well-established organization respected by its clients, partners, and funders. We provide a wide variety of services and programs to our community members (such as Settlement Program; Legal Clinic; Woman’s Program; Senior Program, and a Sexual Health Program). We plan to grow the impact and reach of the programs offered by the organization.
What the Role Is:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for collaborating with the Board to articulate and to oversee the delivery of CSSP’s strategic plan and priorities, for enhancing its operations and programs, and assuming the overall management of the organization, including governance, finances, risk management, labour management, and external relations, among others.
What You Will Do

Articulate and implementing the strategic and annual plans
- Partner with the board to deliver on strategic plans
- Develop annual plans covering all aspects of the organization: financial, programs, stakeholders, organization capacity
- Build organization capacity to deliver
- Execute on the plan and report key monitoring metrics to the board
- Institutional Funding
- Provide and maintain strategic fundraising development, enabling the organization to sustain current sources of funding and exploring additional ones.
- Oversee the funding application process and provide submissions to the board for approval
- Oversee the grant approval process.
- Program Management
- Oversee the overall deliverables per program
- Strategic guidance of support of the programs, working groups, committees
- Resource allocation and oversight
- Provide oversight of the CSSP’s program through continuous review of the programs performance and attending stakeholder evaluation meetings.
- Develop and foster external relationships with stakeholders concerned with CSSP’s program plans and deliverables
- Ensure effective program policies, procedures and processes are implemented

Community Development
- Review and determine the CSSP’s response and support to external groups, community agencies, government entities and organizations in the private sector.
- Participate and represent the CSSP in collaborative planning and partnership building activities as required
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization on relevant issues impacting the Spanish-speaking/Latin American/Latinx community)

People & Operations Management:
- The Executive Director maintains a supportive, inclusive, and empowering organizational culture and provides leadership, direction, and inspiration to the staff and volunteers, thereby facilitating consistent execution
- Accountable for all aspects of People Management: recruitment, performance management, compensation
- Manage Union relationships
- Oversee and improve all operations: policies, procedures and practices

Financial Management
- Oversee the forecasting and compilation of the annual budget, and management and monitor the budget and resources. forecasting preparation and monitoring
- Oversee the generation of periodic and year-end financial statement and reports for both internal and external requirements
- Oversee the internal and external audit processes and production of the annual audited reports
- Ensure that all applicable internal financial controls are followed
- Property Management
- Overall responsibility for Property Management and facility issues
- Manage company assets and optimizing operations
- Board of Directors
- Participate and report the Executive Director in Board of Directors’ meetings and other Board committee meetings.
- Maintain on-going communication with the President of the Board and oversee the logistics of the board meetings

Senior managerial experience leading a unionized workforce preferred

University degree (preferably at the graduate level) in Non-profit Management, Public Administration, Social Work or another relevant field or education/experience that would be considered equivalent.

Experience in the non-for-profit sector preferred

Experience successfully partnering and working with a Board of Directors.
