Plan International Canada released the results from its recent charitable giving survey, which highlighted shifts in holiday spending amid inflation, global conflict, and climate change issues. Plan International Canada surveyed 1508 Canadians and found that 57% of Canadians intend to reduce the amount they will spend this holiday season on gifts. 40% of respondents plan to give meaningful gifts and are less likely to give material gifts, in comparison to years prior.
Survey highlights:
- Donations that meet critical needs: 22% emphasized increased importance of donating to charities that work to address the most urgent needs.
- Significance of social awareness: Over 40% recognized a growing importance of understanding social issues locally and globally.
- Supporting those in need: Nearly half (40%) acknowledged a heightened importance of assisting people and communities in need of help
