In this 8 hour course, you will learn the knowledge and skills needed to find and manage your career. Learn how to find job postings, write a resume and cover letter, prepare for an interview, succeed on the job, find a mentor and more!

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Determine a career path.
• Research and find jobs (e.g., find labor market information for a variety of positions, identify where to look for posted jobs, access the “hidden” job market).
• Develop a career plan in order to realize your short-term and long-term career goals.
• Apply for employment using an effective resume and cover letter, or job application.
• Prepare for various types of interview situations (e.g., identify potential types of interviews, structure effective responses to interview questions).
• Establish and advance your career (e.g., identify examples of good and bad on-the-job behavior and activities, discuss the importance of finding a mentor in your area of interest).

Course Access & Duration

The course will take approximately 8 hours to complete from start to finish. You have one year (365 days) to open and complete the course from the date of purchase before it will automatically expire in your account. Jennifer Mosley is the Program Manager of Sault College’s eLearning Centre and Program Lead and Associate Faculty member for Sault College’s eLearning Post-Graduate Programs. She has worked in the higher education sector for 17 years in various roles including Competency-Based Project Coordinator Quality Matters and Accessibility Lead, Faculty, and eLearning Design Program Coordinator. She is currently working towards her Doctorate in Educational Technology and a Master of Arts in Education from Central Michigan University.
