Help A Girl Out (HAGO) is an anti-poverty organization that aims to eliminate poverty and implement the
United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12, 13), emphasizing menstrual education and equity.  We take pride in our passion and dedication to making sustainable change.

HAGO has received local and international awards such as Canada's Hero Award and Community Impact Award.  HAGO has also received recognition from the Ministry of Women's Social and Economic Opportunity, the City of Brampton, the City of Richmond Hill, and Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University).

Unlike many other menstrual equity organizations in Canada, HAGO has carved out a unique environmentally sustainable program to address period poverty. This has been an enormous undertaking and significantly impacted the period movement in Canada.

Our team is looking for a Project Manager to join our existing staff team and network of 300 volunteers from across the country.

Position Summary

At HAGO, the driving force behind our impact, is a skilled and dedicated team.  The Project Manager is the primary point-person responsible for planning, executing, and delivering projects on time, with excellence and within budget. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated efficacy in project delivery, quality control, clear communication of expectations and strong organization skills.  

The Project Manager‘s primary responsibilities will be to manage (a) business expansion (b) the educational workshops, (c) impact reporting, and (d) Reusable Store inventory.

Objectives of this role

  • Ensure educational workshops provide maximum engagement.  
  • Adequate inventory and prompt customer service to support the Reusable Store.
  • Accurate data collection and impact reporting.
  • Program expansion based on consultation, research and a sound understanding of the issues contributing to period poverty.
  • Manage project activities, including allocation of resources, scheduling, documentation, budget, and other factors necessary for success.

Major Responsibilities

Program Expansion (~50%)

  • Identify program opportunities, generate warm leads, and seek out partnerships with schools and organizations.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns and distribution channels that will lead to increased awareness.
  • Organize events that will educate and promote HAGO’s initiatives and mission.

Manage logistical details for educational workshops (~25%)

  • Schedule workshops, timelines, and milestones.
  • Coordinate allocation of resources (e.g., locations, instructors, inventory).
  • Conduct workshop postmortems in order to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.

Impact Reporting (~15%)

  • Assist with grant proposal writing.
  • Create quarterly impact reports.
  • Establish and deliver mechanisms for tracking project progress and reporting via a formal communication plan.

Manage Reusable Store (~10%)

  • Fulfill orders timely.
  • Administer inquiries.
  • Coordinate sewists.
  • Anticipate future needs and devise strategies and action plans to meet those needs.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Competency Specification

  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to inform populations about HAGO’s mission and vision.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
  • Ability to write business plans, grant proposals, impact reports and fundraising strategies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
  • Multilingual and or bilingual in French (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and proven problem solver.
  • Sense of initiative, urgency, and customer service oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of philanthropic sector, justice, access, inclusion, diversity, and equity awareness.
  • Passionate about working in a “startup” environment.
  • Adaptable, ambitious, self-starter.
  • Familiar with databases.
  • Ability to create and edit project documents, materials, and presentations.
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
