Role Overview
The Peer to Peer (P2P) and Third Party (3P) Events Officer plays an important role in elevating Diabetes Canada events and partnerships by developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of new corporate supporters, committees for P2P events and 3P events.
The Officer will also work closely with other members of the Community Fundraising and Event team and National Corporate Partnerships team to build relationships and ensure strong, consistent stewardship of our donors and corporate partners.
Location:
A flexible work agreement policy in place allowing employees to work on a hybrid schedule, working remotely, and with the expectation of attending in person events when needed. Candidate must reside in Manitoba.
This role includes, but not limited to:
- Identifies, develops and cultivates relationships to help sustain and grow the P2P event portfolio, including solicitation for employee engagement initiatives, team recruitment, sponsorship and identification of new third party events.
- Recruits volunteers and supports P2P event committees.
- Works in partnership with the Director of P2P and 3P Events, Officers of Signature and Special Events, and National Corporate Partnerships team to identify and maximize corporate support and engagement.
- Works in tandem to provide the Coordinator, P2P and 3P Events to ensure all sponsorship deliverables are met.
- Develops compelling proposals and presentations for corporate prospects that align with the Diabetes Canada business plan and market trends.
- Manages a pipeline of qualified prospects and coordinate pipelines with other fundraising activities.
- Recruits new special event opportunities and works with the Manager of P2P and 3P Events to grow the portfolio
- Works cross-functionally with other team members to identify sponsors for events
- Conducts prospect research to identify new contacts, companies, and growth opportunities.
- Facilitates a moves management approach to corporate constituents tracking data within the organization’s CRM system.

The ideal candidate possesses:
- 3 – 5 years of proven fundraising experience in a high relationship-based environment
- University or College degree in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, or equivalent experience
- Some flexibility to travel and to attend evening and weekend events
- Experience recruiting and supporting volunteer committees
- Non-profit experience in a health charity an asset
- Confident, friendly, professional, and comfortable with cold calling
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office
- Experience with CRM an asset
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines with advanced organization skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work within a tight timeline and prioritize in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
- Position demands the ability to positively interact internally as a team member, as well as externally with donors, volunteers and event participants
