Position Description
The Manager, Stewardship will play an instrumental role in leading the stewardship of mass-market donors (donations between $1 to $10,000). Designing and developing the stewardship strategy and execution, the Manager, Stewardship will work cross-functionally to cultivate donors, build and grow donor relationships, provide recognition and acknowledgement, as well as build or enhance supporting programs and processes.
The Manager will develop and lead the mass market donor experience and have full responsibility, including a $1M revenue target in the next 3 to 5 years of a key segment of donors giving between $1,000-$10,000. The Manager will seek to engage our donors around conservation issues and inspire fundraising as an important part of conservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Donor stewardship development and implementation of opportunities to enhance donor relationships across all Community Giving programs (one-time donors, events, monthly donors, e-commerce, etc.).
- Create stewardship standards and a clear process for donor recognition and support at the $1-$10,000 giving levels.
- Connect with donors to understand their motivations and needs (directly and through surveys or other methods as required).
- Identify, test, and implement stewardship strategies to drive revenue growth through retention.
- Collaborate with the Legacy Giving team and Development team to create efficiencies in stewardship across departments, including impact reporting integration and managing a supporter recognition matrix.
- Create processes for managing projects with clear timelines and deliverables.
- Collaborate with program owners and cross functionally to provide best in class donor stewardship.
- Lead WWF-Canada’s Community Giving focused virtual and in-person stewardship events.
- Creating the right mix of in-person and virtual events.
- Connect all WWF-Canada supporters to their impact.
- Work with marketing and events team to jointly lead the annual donor appreciation event.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across departments to understand their goals and objectives for donor events.
- Lead the Mid-level Giving program growth.
- Manage mid-level giving specialist to continuously review and refine the mid-level giving program with specific giving levels and corresponding donor benefits, ensuring marketability while maintaining a low-touch approach
- Support process to qualify community giving donors that are good prospects for becoming a major gift donor, as well as which donors from other departments are better situated with Community Giving.
- Work closely with Direct Marketing team to identify best approaches for solicitation of mid-level donor group.
- Manage and develop direct reports through effective training, performance management, including the development of individual work plans, and motivate the team to achieve results consistent with departmental objectives.
- Develop and manage project schedules and stewardship budgets.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on stewardship results against goals and objectives.
- Work cross functionally across the organization to achieve goals of stewardship and fundraising.
What We Are Looking For
- Post-secondary education in fundraising management or marketing, OR 2+ years of work experience in fundraising management or marketing.
- 5+ years of progressive related experience in fundraising and donor stewardship.
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience in applying stewardship learnings/strategic concepts into action.
- Project management experience.
- Motivated self-starter who can take initiative and effectively lead others.
- Experience implementing strategies related to mid-level giving.
- Understanding of how to apply data to decision making.
- Understanding of cross channel marketing and experience using multiple channels to communicate with various audience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a professional presence and manner and able to work well with staff, volunteers, and external partners.
- People management experience an asset.
- Understanding of conservation issues in Canada considered an asset.
- Bilingual in French considered an asset.
- Familiarity with First Nations Principles of OCAP, BC First Nations Data Governance Initiative, or other similar data sovereignty guidelines an asset.

Other Information
- This role will require occasional local or national travel.
- This role will be required to work occasional evenings or weekends to attend or lead events.
- This is a hybrid work from home/work from office role that can be based out of any WWF-Canada office – Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, Victoria, St. John's, or Iqaluit. Or the role can be based in Thunder Bay, ON, or Saint John, NB.
