Abiona Centre (“the Centre”) is an award-winning, accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre that is a multi-service, non-profit, unionized, community agency located in the east end of Toronto. The Centre is committed to nurturing empowerment, independence and growth for young pregnant and parenting women, children and families in a non-judgmental, inclusive environment by providing a residential care and treatment program; supportive transitional housing; on-site high school program, community housing support and referral services; and maternal infant mental health programs and services. We do this by working collaboratively as a multi-disciplinary team with community partners to provide holistic programs and support that respond to mental health, education and transitional needs. The Centre also operates an EarlyON Child and Family Centre and an Early Learning Centre. All the programs and services are open to families, young women and their children living in the broader community.
The Manager, Integrated LIT and Transitional Housing Program (the “Manager”) contributes to the achievement of the Centre’s mission, vision, strategic directions and objectives by ensuring smooth operations of the LIT and Transitional Housing programs. The Manager is accountable for the development of service goals and evaluation of the goals to be attained, ensuring programs are designed, implemented and operated in a manner consistent with the CCA accreditation standards and licensing agreements with funders and its accountability structures. The Manager will provide leadership to the supervisory and front-line employees and ensure successful delivery of collaborative, therapeutic relationships, strategies and responses to support continued psychological development in the young women and their children.
This position provides leadership and functions as a role model and coach to staff to achieve the departmental and organizational goals.

Reports to: Program Director
Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology, and be a member in good standing with relevant regulatory body; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ related experience in work to support pregnant and parenting adolescents and their children to address issues related to mental illness, recovering from trauma, social isolation and independent living.
- At least 3 years’ supervisory experience in community-based settings; supervisory experience in a unionized environment a definite asset.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated individual and family counselling, client assessment and case management skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of infant attachment theory and remedial practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Good interpersonal skills with clients and families and members of the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to function effectively within the scope of the Management Team
- Ability to network effectively with other services and agencies.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while seeking the appropriate level of consultation and approval from management.
- Ability to ensure that clinical and administrative licensing and accreditation standards and Centre policies, standards and practices are met.
- Skills to access community resources for young pregnant women and young parents and their babies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Negative report from Criminal Reference Check
Working Condition:
- The Manager and Supervisor in the Integrated LIT and Transitional Housing Program work staggered hours to provide supervisory coverage between 8 am to 10 pm during weekdays, and are on-call at least once every three weekends.
- The Manager and Supervisor will provide backup coverage for one another.
