Introduction:
The Manager, Business Development & Tenants will play an important role in building the social enterprise through new tenancies, memberships and partnerships, and managing the day-to-day operation of the Centre for Better Public Places, Evergreen’s public space innovation hub at the Brick Works. The Centre for Better Public Places provides ongoing and flexible work, meeting and event spaces through short- and long-term memberships and tenancy agreements, while allowing organizations with similar missions to connect with one another. The role will steward relationships with new and existing tenants and members to ensure ongoing satisfaction and retention, while working closely with the event and facility operations teams to ensure all tenant and member needs are met. The role will be responsible for working with staff from various departments to generate new income, increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue.

About the Role:
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with senior leadership to understand organizational strategy, promote the objectives of the Centre for Better Public Places and strengthen associated partnerships at the Evergreen Brick Works.
- Oversee the day-to-day stewardship of tenants, including tenant relationships, lease and membership negotiations, renewals, terminations, move-ins and space usage needs
- Work collaboratively with the team across the organization to drive corporate revenue generation and support the achievement of annual and long-term financial goals for reinvestment in community
- Conduct research to identify potential tenants and members, and work closely with other teams to generate leads and advance partnerships in a collaborative manner
- Ensure an excellent member and tenant experience, predict their future needs and, work with teams across the organization to devise strategies and action plans to meet those needs
- Stay up-to-date on Evergreen’s current product and service offerings, and identify opportunities to promote products to new and existing members
- Use knowledge of the market and Evergreen’s unique selling propositions and differentiators to identify and propose new business opportunities to senior leadership
- Champion operational efficiency of the Centre, including at regular leadership and operations meetings with the broad Evergreen team
- Oversee tenancy and membership agreements to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
- Manage the annual program budget, including revenue and expense control and reporting on variances
- Manage membership and tenant data within Evergreen’s customer relationship management software
- Manage and mentor staff in a thoughtful and professional manner, and take an active role in their professional development
- Contribute to positive workplace culture and great internal communication

You have the following qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive work experience in property management, corporate sales, and/or business development
- Strong communication and customer service skills, especially if related to relationship management
- Experience with negotiations of leases, memberships or other agreements
- Thorough understanding of how to create and maintain budgets
- Experience as a people manager
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
- High level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of municipal and provincial rules and regulations surrounding tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities an asset
- Working knowledge of Salesforce and Caterease considered an asset
- Working knowledge of Angus Anywhere Work Order system would be an asset

Working Conditions:
- Position is mainly based on site at Evergreen’s head office at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, but hybrid work option available at times
- Regular Office hours (flexible), with the possibility of evenings and/or weekends as needed
Contract:
- Full time, permanent
- Target Hire Rate: $75,000 – $85,000
