The Supervisor of Pest Control & Hoarding will be overseeing the Pest Control and Hoarding Specialist staff to minimize and eliminate bed bug/pest infestations and hoarding issues within all properties and keep current on technologies and procedures. The successful candidate will also ensure adherence to the mission statement, policies, and procedures of Homes First Society.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to supervise, train and oversee a team of dedicated pest control and hoarding specialists in an unionized environment within the context of the Collective Agreement
- Manage pest control contracts and book pest control treatments as necessary
- Scheduling and completing monthly site visits
- Preparing pest control reports for each program, collecting statistics for evaluation and funding proposals.
- Provide quality pest control services and case management expertise for residential/shelter clients using integrated pest management techniques
- Inspect shelters and units to identify pest issues
- Prepare and apply necessary pest control products in accordance with safety labels and Ministry of Environment guidelines and regulations
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Experience working with people who are under housed and who are the hardest to house
- Knowledge of best practices for bed bug, pest and hoarding issues
- Ensure bed bug/pest control tools and equipment are maintained in good condition
- Ensures adherence to Residential Tenancies Act and Shelter Standards
- Inform clients and teams about Fire Code, municipal by-laws, obligations to neighbors.
- Provide education on pest control and hoarding to your team, clients and Frontline workers.
- Complete ongoing professional development related to core responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience servicing residential clients
- Excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's license
- Valid Ontario structural pest control license
- Knowledge of group process and dynamics
- Knowledge of client population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices and systemic reasons for homelessness
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of relevant laws, standards and guidelines
- Knowledge of resources and services available in the community
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and organization skills
- Supervisory experience in a unionized setting an asset
- Knowledge of relevant laws, standards and guidelines; including the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Act, Residential Tenancies Act, Shelter Standards and Social Housing Reform Act
- Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention and Intervention an asset
- Certificate of Completion of Homelessness Learning Hub’s Harm Reduction for the Homelessness Sector considered an asset
