JDRF is looking for an energetic, experienced Development Manager to support the British Columbia & Yukon region.

Description

JDRF is currently seeking a Development Manager to join our British Columbia & Yukon regional team. This position will drive fundraising revenue through the Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF, Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes for JDRF, annual giving and major gifts programs. The Development Manager will lead and inspire a team of fundraising professionals across the BC & Yukon regions to achieve these fundraising goals for the Province/Territory.

Here’s what your primary responsibilities would be:

  • Developing fundraising plans to meet assigned signature event overall goals, timelines and budgets in partnership with the National Support Office and ensure goals are achieved and performance meets or exceeds expectations
  • Developing and executing market strategies for increasing revenue and retention
  • Utilizing CRM database and systems as directed to manage relationships, accurately record interactions, and run reports for planning and executional purposes and to ensure teams’ actions are in line with overall best practices
  • Understanding JDRF’s core program KPIs and effectively use JDRF systems to aggressively monitor year over year trends and impact on performance 
  • Working in partnership with National Events and Annual Giving team members to execute a comprehensive Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes program
  • Collaborating closely with the corporate engagement, volunteer & community engagement, and event experience teams to achieve the overall event objectives
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of JDRF’s mission and research strategy
  • Building meaningful connections with donors and volunteers that results in new and diverse revenue streams (i.e. major gifts, peer-to-peer fundraising, planned giving, corporate partnerships, events) that further JDRF’s mission
  • Providing support and strategic direction to a fundraising team, across multiple markets to deliver fundraising results. This includes creating and implementing fundraising strategies, providing training, and inspiring, motivating and monitoring the staff team to achieve key performance indicators for each role

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 5-6 years of progressive fundraising experience, including experience in managing a team and university or College degree in Business Management, Fundraising or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills; ability to coach, develop and mentor staff
  • Experience working on peer-to-peer fundraising events
  • Team player that has the experience and ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.  Must develop, grow, manage, and utilize relationships. 
  • Capability to leverage relationships and negotiate agreements.
  • High level of comfort communicating complex information (e.g. JDRF research, goals, etc.) to a wide range of audiences, from high-net worth individuals to corporate donors
  • Strong project management skills, and the ability to act, implement and make sound decisions
  • Experience managing budgets in addition to managing volunteer activities
  • Ability to collaborate internally as a team member, as well as externally with donors and leadership volunteers
  • Ability to proactively monitor and adjust activities to respond to changing circumstances and priorities to meet goals, address issues as they arise
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, personable and service-oriented
  • Ability to work within a tight timeline and prioritize in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to successfully interact with external constituents and staff within the organization
  • Experience working with peer-to-peer fundraising software an asset (eg: AKA Raisin)
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office; Experience with a CRM database
  • Some flexibility to travel throughout the region (15%) and to attend evening and weekend events; valid driver’s license required (access to a vehicle is an asset)

Salary Range: Salary Range is anticipated to be $70,000 to $78,000, commensurate with skills and experience.

Location Preference: Flexible within the region but preferred to be located in Vancouver Mainland area to facilitate ease of travel to donor meetings, events etc. We are a remote-first organization so the incumbent in this role will work remotely from a home office.
