Job Description: 

The Contract Program Facilitator position will support and report to the Program Coordinator of Catharsis Toronto’s Homecoming Program. The Contract Program Facilitator will assist our team by leading workshops based on the curriculum of the Homecoming program, engaging with and mentoring youth between 20 and 25, and attending community events to outreach for participants for future cohorts. The Contract Program Facilitator is expected to attend weekly program sessions, less frequent team meetings, and participate in the program group chat.

Organization Description: 

Catharsis Toronto is a Black-led, Black and Youth-serving grassroots organization based in Scarborough, Ontario, that provides programming for youth to consciously connect with their mind, body and soul. We are currently offering an opportunity to join our team and work with the youth and community we serve. Confronting the Impacts of Anti-Black Racism and the erasure of Black/ African culture in Canada is at the core of our mission for our Homecoming program. 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate program workshops ranging from defining racism and intersectionality to creating online vision boards. 
  • Support workshops led by other facilitators and community m
  • Engage with the youth in person and in the program group chat 
  • Assist with the setup and take down for the weekly session (i.e. Assembling light snacks like sandwiches, laying out and putting away yoga mats, etc.) 
  • Video record workshops 

Qualifications:

  • Have experience working as a facilitator 
  • Familiar with anti-oppressive frameworks 
  • Enthusiastic, organized, and coachable 

Asset but not required:

  • Diploma or degree in social work, communications, or any humanity-based program
  • Worked or volunteered for a nonprofit organization
