ABOUT YWCA TORONTO – YWCA EMPLOYMENT CENTRE (2425 Eglinton Avenue East)
YWCA Toronto Employment Centre 2425 Eglinton Avenue East is a customer-focused program model for job seekers and employers, with focus on women, young women and gender-diverse people. The YWCA Toronto Employment Centre is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development through their Employment Ontario Division (EO). We act as a one-stop service for all jobseekers and employers. We use our resources to support all job seekers, especially those more distantly removed from the workforce, to reach their goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for on-site management of all aspects of the centre including programming, staffing and health and safety of staff and participants/clients;
  • Directs and actively negotiates all new government purchase of service agreements and community partnerships;
  • Prepares and monitors the program budgets in consultation with the Director of Employment and Training;
  • Ensures that statistical records are maintained and submits an annual report on the program with an analysis of trends;
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting to the Ministry and YWCA;
  • Ensures the hiring of all staff in consultation with the Director of Employment and Training and the Director of Human Resources and Administration in accordance with the Human Resources policies of the Association;
  • Ensures the implementation of the Collective Agreement in consultation with the Director of Human Resources and Administration and the Director of Employment and Training;
  • Ensures the training, supervision and regular evaluation of all program staff, students and volunteers;
  • Participates with the Director of Employment and Training to develop long and short term plans for the programs to meet the identified needs of the participants and the overall organizational objectives;
  • Provides consultation to individuals, businesses, government and community groups in the employment field.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge of the theories and concepts relating to the practice of social work, group work, and employment programs normally acquired through the completion of a graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Adult Education, or Business Administration with five to seven years directly related experience. (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
  • Knowledge of financial and human resource management required as well as previous work in a multicultural, unionized environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential; 
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with funders is essential;
  • A thorough knowledge of women's services, employment programs, and access and equity issues is required;   
  • Ability to produce and generate reports using current computer applications;
  • A working knowledge of current computer applications is necessary, e.g. Windows XP or higher, Financial software, E-mail and Internet.
