Summary: Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre (BBNC) is a charitable, multi-service neighbourhood centre that offers a broad range of recreational, social and capacity-building programs to the southwest Scarborough community. Description of Role: Provide detailed service resources and contact information to youth in need of basic needs such as affordable housing, social support, and other urgent needs. This role fulfills a major need among youth in the community who require support navigating available services and facing overwhelming situations often with minimal help.
Duties:
- Meet with youth who require assistance navigating social services such as affordable housing
- Provide clear and relevant information in a timely fashion to support identified needs
- Build trusting relationships with youth and work collaboratively with the youth department staff
- Collate resources for youth based on highly requested support and appropriate programs and networks
- Provide follow-up with youth to ensure appropriate support is received
- Maintain detailed case notes that are well organized
Qualifications:
- Child and Youth Care, Social Services, 2 or more years of experience
- Familiarity and experience with Toronto housing services and community social support networks
- Resourceful and able to uphold confidentiality
- Experience working with youth ages 13-21
- Ability to manage multiple inquiries and prioritize needs
- Communicates clearly and empathetically to youth facing difficult circumstances
- Passion for supporting youth

Time Commitment:
- One weekday evening per week for 2-3 hours or Saturday mornings (9am-12pm) for 2-3 hours
