SJS Canada is looking for a volunteer Website Coordinator to manage the official SJS Canada website, update it with information as needed, and maintain an overall professional appearance of the site. The website was created and is operated using Wix, reducing the need for coding experience.

Description

Stevens-Johnson Syndrome Canada (SJSC) is a registered non-profit organization that aims to promote health by providing people suffering from SJS/TEN as well as their families and caregivers with access to related counselling, support groups and information programs.

The President, a survivor of SJS/TEN – the disease that burns the body from the inside out – founded this organization over 10 years ago. SJSC was created with the intention of bringing awareness to the general and medical communities by providing workshops, support groups, seminars, and information about this illness and its effects.

Duties

  • Design, update, and refresh the SJS Canada website to maintain a visually appealing and user-friendly online presence.

  • Regularly post new and revised information on the website (3 to 5 times per month) to ensure that content remains current and engaging.

  • Perform routine webmaster duties by making necessary updates and improvements to the website, ensuring its smooth operation and security.

  • Manage and monitor server performance, configure web servers, and upload and update web pages.

  • Design, compose, and schedule SJS Canada email messages (twice each month) to keep our community informed about our activities, initiatives, and events.

  • Coordinate with other volunteers, delegating tasks related to ease of use, editorial content, promotional content, and graphic design.

  • Select, optimize, and manipulate images in website posts.

Desired Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of Wix

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven organizational skills, task management, time-management skills, and ability to meet deadlines

  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and the ability to manage and update content using these systems.

  • Understanding Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles and practices is essential for improving website visibility in search engine results.

  • Being aware of website security best practices and implementing measures to protect the site from cyber threats and vulnerabilities

  • Graphic design skills and knowledge of web design

  • Proven organizational skills, manage tasks, meet short deadlines

  • The ability to work with a team.

  • Able to work independently with little supervision

  • Well-developed current computer skills (eg. Microsoft Office, Google Forms, Canva, etc.)

  • Ability to supervise and guide staff and volunteers effectively.
