Position Summary:
Mental Health & Justice: Housing Support Services is seeking a temporary full-time Housing Support Worker to provide housing support to individuals aged 16 or older who have a serious mental illness/concurrent disorder, are in conflict with the law, and living in the community. The Housing Support Worker will assist with the securing of appropriate housing within the community, liaise with landlords, and advocate on behalf of clients. Support and instruction will be provided to individuals as needed, to facilitate learning and maintaining activities of daily living which endeavour to prevent future involvement with the criminal justice system and retain housing. The Housing Support Worker will assist clients to develop their strengths, promote wellness and housing stability, and improve their quality of life.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a university degree/college diploma in social work or social service worker with experience in the mental health field and/or addictions and housing. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of related housing experience and must be registered or eligible for registration in a professional college or association. This position requires a valid driver’s license and the use of a reliable vehicle. French speaking is an asset. Please quote competition #MHJ1106.
