Volunteer drivers needed to collect and deliver food to our community partners all across York Region.

Description

The Food Bank of York Region is a food distribution hub for non-profit organizations within the nine municipalities of York Region.  We collect and deliver surplus food to over 80 community food pantries, social service agencies, social housing and schools.
The need for food support continues to grow every year.  With the cost of housing, food and fuel continuing higher, the need has never been greater.

The Food Bank of York Region requires volunteer drivers to deliver food to the schools in our network.  We require drivers with the following;

  • Over 25 years of age
  • Must have a valid and clean driving record with no at fault accidents.
  • Comfortable driving a long wheelbase Sprinter.
  • Food Handler certificate a bonus but not required.
  • Complete a police background check.
  • Be available for the entirety of one shift between the hours of 8:30 am to 3pm
  • Able to commit to working one day per week.
  • Be able to read a map and create the shortest delivery route.
  • Have the use of a cell phone.
  • Physically fit and able to comfortably lift 15 kg.
  • Proficient in reading and writing English.
  • Pleasant demeaner and dresses appropriately
  • Basic understanding of motor vehicle mechanical systems re: safety check
