For many years, Mary Centre has been helping people with developmental disabilities to work towards greater self-confidence and personal independence so they can take part in fulfilling educational, employment and life experiences.
Summary Statement:
To oversee the day-to-day operation of the following: Faith Outreach Program, Supported Independent Living Program, Intervenor Program and to coordinate the Agency Intake in order to provide support to adults with a developmental disability according to the Vision, Mission and Value Statements and Policies and Procedures of Mary Centre.
Mary Centre is currently seeking a Full Time, Coordinator, this position will report to the Director of Services. In addition, to the above there may be other project-related responsibilities. The incumbent will assist in developing, organizing, delivering, evaluating and monitoring the implementation of goal orientated programs. They will also be providing administrative support, supervision and leadership to the people supported, employees and continuing to provide some direct support. The work will be guided according to the Mission, Vision, Values and principles of Mary Centre. This position also participates in a rotational On-call resource for the Agency. How this position will function and where the successful candidate may be primarily located will be discussed during the interview.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a relevant University Degree in Social Worker, Sociology, Psychology, plus a minimum of three (3) years related experience and a minimum two (2) years supervisor experience. Demonstrated organizational, community development, public relations, and promotional skills.

- Valid Designated Physical Restraints Training Program Certificate
- Possess a Valid Ontario Driver’s License class G.
- A vehicle with valid insurance is required for the position.
- Computer Skills – Microsoft Word and Excel

- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Up to date COVID-19 Vaccination
Key Responsibilities:
- Be familiar with and consistently apply the principles of Mary Centre with respect to the Vision, Mission, Values and Policies and Procedures
- To maintain a case load as designated by the Director of Services, providing direct support, guidance, care, and supervision according to the needs of the person supported and the family maintaining sensitivity to cultural and religious beliefs.
- To support the people to self-determine their life plan and build self-esteem though positive connections in the Faith Outreach, Intervenor and Supported Independent Living Program.
- To oversee program schedules for Supported Independent Living and ensure adequate employee coverage to meet the needs of the people supported.
- Supporting people to access educational, vocational, volunteer and day programs, determining the person’s level of need and support required achieving intended goal.
- To act as the first point of contact for Mary Centre and is responsible for reviewing all intake referrals for all programs.
- To act as the contact person for the Intervenor Program.
- To coordinate the development and implementation of a Faith Outreach plan to include all people supported in the faith community of their choice.
- To act as a consultant to catholic parishes, other faith communities and lay people in the development of an inclusive faith community.
- To coordinate ShareLife Presentations and maintain a database for tracking information, hours, roles and events participation.
- Represent Mary Centre in the community on matters relating to the Faith Outreach Program. Promote Mary Centre within the workplace and community to develop and foster cooperation, understanding and acceptance.
- Ensure regular supervision, training and evaluations of employees.
- Participate in mandatory trainings and to make the Core Competencies (Advocacy, Building Relationships, Champion Change and Innovation, Facilitating Growth and Development, Inclusive Leadership, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Resilience, Resource Management, Strategic Thinking, Valuing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) part of their ongoing professional development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills.

- Professionalism, exercise good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information.
- Must be able to function as part of a multidisciplinary team, share information in a respectful and nonjudgmental manner.
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and mental health issues (Dually Diagnosed)
- Knowledge of how to implement and follow Behavior Support Plans. Provide appropriate professional understanding and intervention in response to emotional, behavioral, and physical needs of people.
- Knowledge of Individual Support Plans
- Ability to keep work environment up to Health and Safety Standards
- To monitor the implementation of policies and procedures.
- Leadership skills to provide direction and motivation to staff, students, volunteers and people supported.
- Working knowledge, understanding and application of the Ministry Regulations regarding Social Inclusion Act for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Ministry of Community and Social Services Passport Funding.
- Strong documentation, communication, analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to respond to crisis situations.
- Demonstrated professionalism, ability work with families, community agencies and other community resources.
- Ability to work and coordinate within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Rotational On-Call duties required.
- French language skills will be considered and asset.
- Must be prepared to transport supported people in your own vehicle.
