Mentor to a single Mom

Description of Position:
As a volunteer mentor, you will be matched with a single mom and her children for a one-on-one match. Matched pairs spend about two hours per week together: discussing parenting issues, working on personal goals, going for coffee or walks, and enjoying fun activities.
Mentors should have parenting experience, be personally suitable and mature, exhibit mental and emotional competence, be reliable and of good character, dependable, punctual, honest, fun-loving and committed to open communication. They will be a consistent and positive role model to their mentee by modeling responsible behaviors such as reliability, respect, and honesty, along with a concern for the protection and well-being of children.
They should have the ability to relate to children and adults, adapt to change, and to work with the 1 Up Single Parent Resource Centre as a team member.

Being part of a community, building new friendships, supporting a single mother, and spending time with her and her children while sharing your interests and skills.
Time Commitment:
About 2 hours per week in person, plus two meetings per month for 9 months out of the year. You can still take breaks to travel etc. as desired.
