About Us:
The Canadian Foundation for Animal-Assisted Support Services (CFAS) is an impartial national registered charity. We promote and support the well-being of Canadians and the health and welfare of the animals involved in the delivery of Animal-Assisted Human Services (AAHS).
CFAS connects and collaborates with consumers, the public, service providers, and other stakeholders to pay forward the human-animal bond, the gift that keeps on giving. We foster unity in diversity to enhance and cultivate Canada’s burgeoning Animal-Assisted Human Services Industry Sector.
Overview of the Committee Member Role:
- Assist with overseeing Volunteerism with the CEO in a primarily virtual environment to facilitate all phases of Volunteerism
- Prepare a flexible and creative action plan outlining each teammate’s roles and responsibilities while acknowledging the value of the individual and the Team’s contributions.
For example:

- Review and sign the Non-Disclosure Agreement and individual contracts where applicable.
- Host Orientation Sessions for each new teammate.
- Prepare, review, and distribute meeting agendas.
- Schedule and track the Committee’s meetings and notetaking.
- Prepare monthly updates with the CEO and Committee’s Coordinator and submit the updates to the corresponding Board Committee Liaison. Where there is no Board Liaison, please direct monthly updates to the CEO.
- Act on agenda items and assigned tasks within suggested timelines.
- Nurture consensus decision-making.
- Recommend and recruit new committee teammates when opportunities present themselves.
- Provide input to develop standard operating procedures for succession planning and a guide for new and existing committee teammates.

Volunteer Time Commitment:
The Committee meets once a month and there is about 4-8 hours of work a month as required.
General Qualifications

- Strong communication skills.
- Able to work with new volunteers online and host orientation sessions.
- Experience with onboarding new volunteers.
