At Avalon Recovery Society, we provide completely free, life-changing services to women and families with lived experience of addiction and trauma. Our Avalon Women’s Centres offer peer support, meetings for women in recovery, wellness programming, social events, free childminding, individual counselling, drop-in hours, resource libraries, and clothing closets. Our programs and services are accessible to anyone who identifies as a woman, trans-inclusive.

As Executive Director, you will be providing direction and support for the incredible Avalon team and working to continue the growth of our programs. You will help us to expand our reach by sharing our stories and interacting with various stakeholders including community and corporate leaders, donors and partners.
Here’s how:
- Working with the Board of Directors to continue to advance our Avalon strategic plan.
- Building a shared vision of Avalon’s role in community support that aligns with our purpose and values.
- Overseeing day-to-day operations and making decisions that support Avalon staff and volunteers to reach and help women seeking support.
- Overseeing program development to address a range of needs and opportunities for growth.
- Developing and managing annual operational and fundraising budgets.
- Cultivating strategic partnerships and donor relationships to increase Avalon’s effectiveness in serving its community.
- Enhancing Avalon’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
You're the missing piece of the puzzle if you have:
- 5 or more years of non-profit management experience in an operational environment.
- Experience in coaching and managing high-performing teams.
- Experience working with a governance Board of Directors and building board relationships.
- Experience building and managing operating budgets including ongoing forecasting, projections, and cashflow management.
- Familiarity and experience with trauma-informed practice.
- Deep understanding of the social services ecosystem in the Lower Mainland.
- Experience and confidence working with community and business leaders, building new and innovative partnerships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to represent the organization in public speaking opportunities as needed.
- A strong connection to philanthropic and social services communities.
Great-to-haves:
- Marketing and public relations, experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
- Experience with fundraising techniques and programs, including donor development, corporate sponsorships, major gifts and endowments.
- Experience and competence with CRM databases, financial/bookkeeping software, and Microsoft Office.
