Status: Regular, Part-Time (0.8FTE)

Work Location:  Vancouver, BC. – Hybrid (a combination of in-office and remote work)

Salary: $80,000-$90,000 per annum

Expected Start Date: January 2024

BCCNM is empowered under the Health Professions Act to regulate the practice of all licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, registered midwives, registered nurses, and registered psychiatric nurses in British Columbia. Regulation helps to protect the public by ensuring that professional care or service received by the public is competent, ethical, and meets the standards that society views as acceptable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage NCAS budgets, financial forecasts, and reports to achieve organizations financial goals.
  • Understand NCAS’s financial plans and business needs and identify accounting platforms best suited for NCAS.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with BCCNM organizational standards and relevant NCAS contracts.

Administration

  • Streamline and improve administrative processes.
  • Liaise with staff within various BCCNM administrative departments (eg: legal, HR, IM, security, finance, registration) to facilitate NCAS needs and to ensure NCAS complies with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with managers and support procurement, vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
  • Trouble shoot and manage client accounts for accurate and timely payment.
  • Lead in development, evolution and monitoring of NCAS policies and procedures
  • Identify and resolve/escalate finance, administration, invoicing issues

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Perform full-cycle accounting including account reconciliations, invoicing, payments and reporting , as supported by Organizational policies, and in compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and present NCAS financial statements (actual, budgets, forecasts, projections and related assumptions) and reports to senior management (NCAS and Organizational).
  • Liaise with organizational finance team and support all auditing requests.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, strategic planning and government/funder reporting.
  • Work with BCCNM to ensure the timely information is provided for filing of regulatory reports and returns, s
  • Provide recommendations to optimize financial performance.
  • Support development of funding proposals

Team Collaboration

  • Foster and maintain an organizational culture that promotes the corporate commitment of mutual respect, teamwork, service excellence and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various NCAS departments and staff to support organizational goals.
  • Work closely with the executive team to align financial strategies with overall objectives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field or other relevant education; CPA designation or candidacy preferred.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of providing full-cycle accounting, finance and administrative services within a non-profit organization or start-up organization. (Financial management experience within a non-profit is preferred.)
  • An ability to provide financial expertise and strategic advice in support of organization’s strategic goals.
  • Experienced with various accounting platforms (Microsoft GP Dynamics knowledge is an asset)
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analytical skills
  • Experience with developing budgets for variety of funding proposals
  • Demonstrated experience with reporting to varied donors including governments, foundations, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with defining and implementing policies and procedures and ensuring compliance.
  • Exceptional cross-cultural communication skills (written and oral), and experience working in cross-cultural service environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships at multiple levels of organization.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage competing demands, and prioritize proactively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools and Microsoft Excel
  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment, and openness to learning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
