As our Youth Programme Coordinator, you will develop and manage multiple student programmes such as Workshops and other programmes. You will also organize youth-focused development activities and create new volunteer opportunities within the HIV community.

Description

LetsStopAIDS is a Canadian youth-HIV charity that focuses on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Since 2004, we have been creating a global network of youth-HIV leaders. LetsStopAIDS is mostly run by volunteers and your contribution will be part of the broader volunteer effort.
 

About You:
As our Youth Programme Coordinator, you will develop and manage  workshops and other multiple student programmes. You will also organize youth-focused development activities and create new volunteer opportunities within the HIV community.

Responsibilities & Skills:

  • Collaborate with the Peer Education Manager in the development of LetsStopAIDS’ Peer Education Programme.

  • Coordinate activities with colleges, universities, counsellors and other youth-related groups to facilitate LetsStopAIDS Peer Education Programme.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with various agencies, individuals, universities, etc.

  • Coordinate and carry out projects relating to engagement activities of youth members. This could include peer-counselling with students, event planning, producing in-house publications or performing public relations functions.

  • Provide relevant information or resources to youth. 

  • Gather information, collect and record information received through verbal and written inquiry, and report on any interesting points identified.

  • Attend or visit various events or meetings that support greater youth-HIV engagement.

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Dedication:

  • The role will require 5-8 hours per week.Certain tasks may require irregular volunteer hours, particularly in times of need.Preference will be given to individuals with lived experiences, relating to HIV.
  • It is mandatory to be at the office for 2 meetings every month unless you are outside of the GTA. If outside of the GTA, a goal of attending 10 meetings a year in person. After two no shows or no communication you won't be part of the team anymore.
  • You also need to provide us availability to run the workshops in schools.
