Summary
Marillac Place is seeking 2 individuals from diverse backgrounds to join our Board of Directors. Whileindividuals with backgrounds in Human Resources, Engineering, Construction, or FacilitiesManagement are preferred, we welcome applications from anyone with a sincere interest. This is avolunteer position with an anticipated commitment of 6 to 10 service hours per month.
Description
Prospective candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Reside in or have a personal connection to the Region of Waterloo.
- A willingness to serve a 3-year term.
- Availability to attend regular monthly meetings (typically 11 per year), usually conducted virtually in the evening on the third Thursday of each month.
- Beyond the monthly board meeting, engage in one or more committees (Finance, Governance, Fundraising, HR), with meetings scheduled as needed.
- Previous board or senior leadership experience is preferred.
Board Members are expected to:
- Adequately prepare for meetings including reading all materials provided.
- Work collaboratively with other board members, the Executive Director, staff and volunteers with the goal of advancing the mission of Marillac Place.
- Actively participate in meetings, including expressing concerns and contributing to discussions.
- Be an advocate for Marillac Place.
- Support organizational events.
- Stay informed about external factors that may impact Marillac Place.
- Participate in annual performance and compensation reviews for the Executive Director.
Board members must actively maintain the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Must not have an undischarged bankruptcy.
- Must not have been deemed by a court to be incapable of managing your own affairs.
- Must not be an ineligible individual as defined by Canada Revenue Agency.
- Provide a current criminal background check every 3 years.
