GYMNASTICS CANADA – DIRECTOR – OPERATIONS (Virtual Office Location) 

Gymnastics Canada (GymCan) is the national sport governing body responsible for the governance, development, and promotion of Gymnastics in Canada. Gymnastics Canada works closely with twelve (12) Provincial and Territorial Federations (P/TSOs) and over 700 clubs to provide a broad range of programs and services to meet the needs of all participants. From athlete development to coach and judge education, Gymnastics Canada sets the operational standards and practices for the sport in Canada. Our mandate is to promote and provide positive and diverse gymnastics experience through the delivery of quality and safe gymnastics programing from playground to podium. 

Working virtually and reporting to the CEO, the Director, Operations will join the leadership team and play a key role in overseeing operational functions while designing revenue development and partnership strategies to support the organization's growth and sustainability. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage human resources, event strategy and oversight, risk management, business process effectiveness, and revenue generation initiatives. 

Core responsibility: 

HR Management 

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with Gymnastics Canada's mission and values. 
  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, training, and performance management processes. 
  • Champion a supportive and inclusive working environment the improves employee engagement and establishes Gymnastics Canada as an employer of choice. 

Event Strategy Oversight: 

  • In partnership with Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations, establish and oversee a unified strategy for national-level gymnastics events across all disciplines. 
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to increase the sustainability, brand impact, and success of national events. 
  • Evaluate event outcomes, gather feedback, and implement improvements for future events. 

Business Process Effectiveness: 

  • Work collaboratively with department and high-performance leadership to ensure operational alignment across different organizational business practices. 
  • Analyze and optimize business processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within Gymnastics Canada. 
  • Serve as a single point of contact for oversight of policy and procedure, document management, and operational business practices. 

Risk Management: 

  • Serve as corporate owner of the enterprise risk management framework and associated risk management practice. 

Revenue Development & Partnerships: 

  • Identify opportunities and develop strategies to increase revenue streams for Gymnastics Canada. 
  • Lead initiatives for sponsorship, partnerships, fundraising, and other revenue-generating activities. 
  • Analyze market trends and industry insights to innovate and expand revenue sources. 

Qualified candidates should have a combination of proven expertise and experience as follows: 

  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a senior management role overseeing operations, preferably in a sports or athletic organization. 
  • ​​​​​​​Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build effective teams and improve employee engagement. 
  • Deep understanding of HR practices, sports governance, risk assessment, and compliance within the sports industry. 
  • Proficiency in project management and continuous improvement. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 
  • Bilingualism is a significant asset.
