About this opportunity:
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Sunday Camp program as Volunteer Counsellors. As a volunteer, you will work alongside paid staff members to provide a fun and safe environment for campers.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
- Assist camp counsellors in leading group activities and team-building exercises
- Ensure campers are safe and supervised at all times
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents (occasionally), and other staff members
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Help manage disciplinary issues and conflicts that may arise
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the campsite
- Support paid counsellors with snack and meal preparation
Note: Volunteer counsellors will have a supporting role and will not be held accountable for the entire group as a whole, while camp counsellors will have leadership roles and will be held accountable for the overall success of the camp program.
Time Commitment:
- 4 hours per shift
- Camp runs Sundays 9 am – 4 pm
- January 28 – June 9, 2024
Camp Locations:
- Stonebridge Public School
A great candidate for this position will possess the following:
- Must be 12+ years of age
- At least 3 months of experience working with children, preferred
- Ability to work and communicate well with children, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate children towards learning new skills
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Ability to demonstrate responsible, ethical, and professional conduct- YOU are the role model
- Ability to provide support and instruction to campers and co-workers
