Description
As a Recreation Volunteer, you will play a vital role ensuring positive experiences for the residents at Unionville Home Society through engaging activities and companionship. You will assist the recreation staff and/or have the opportunities to lead activities with residents such as nail painting, reading, playing board games, conducting bingo games, arts and crafts, socials, friendly visiting, and so much more! This volunteer position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to our community and develop valuable connections with individuals in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, organizing and facilitating recreational activities for the residents; This can include, games, arts and crafts, music or pet therapy, exercise programs, gardening, reading, and any other forms of entertainment.
- Engage in meaningful conversations and providing companionship to residents.
- Assist with with serving meals, and helping residents eating.
- Supporting special events (Birthdays, holiday parties, or cultural festivities).

- Ability to follow instructions with sound judgement, knowing when to seek help.
Requirements:
- Attend interview and volunteer orientation.
- Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Police Check (if over the age of 18).
- Completion of a 2-step Mantoux (tuberculosis) test.
- Volunteer consent form signed by parent/guardian if volunteer is under 18.
