Nonprofits are at the forefront of solving today’s most significant challenges. At the same time, needs are becoming more complex. Nonprofits also play a crucial role in creating the vibrant communities people crave to live in, where everyone belongs and that contribute to a healthy planet. Organizations are responding to these demands by learning strategies to develop and attract multiple revenue streams that enable them to weather financial ups and down and move away from being forced to work from a place of scarcity.
Organizations are asking themselves: how do we become financially strong, increase impact and ensure our staff are not burned out due to a lack of funds?
Organizations that can find financial resilience tend to have a variety of diversified revenues, including an increase in unrestricted revenues within an organization’s control.
Diversified revenue is critical because when one revenue stream goes down, another stream goes up. This balance of resources, especially unrestricted resources, enables organizations to build more sustainable internal operations, respond to community needs at the moment, and come together differently in partnerships. Resilient organizations can test new ideas, innovate, and increase their impact.
One of the toughest challenges nonprofit organizations face when trying to diversify revenues is culture. This stems from the charitable sector existing within a traditionally dependent financial model. This culture of scarcity is at the sector level. It affects organizations in every region of Canada and their ability to service the needs of their community. Funding will always be critical to the nonprofit sector, but the weight of the world cannot be solved by funding alone.
Shifting thinking from scarcity into abundance is a significant cultural shift within many organizations. In Thriving Non-Profits, up to three people within your organization can participate, including the Executive Director, the staff, and the Board of Directors. The program design supports a culture shift into abundance thinking at all levels of your organization as you develop a financial diversification plan and gain the input and buy-in of a new diversification strategy. The program can catapult your organization forward in ways never before realized.
Thriving Non-Profits was developed by nonprofit leaders for nonprofit leaders to support any organization, regardless of mission mandate, size or location of operations. It is a combination of learning and a designed process that will help you build a roadmap for your organization on financial strategies that will suit your organization.
The program combines online learning, virtual sessions that create space for team strategy, and personalized coaching tailored to the specifics of your organization.
The program will build your knowledge of what revenue strategies nonprofits and charities can develop or attract and help you determine which ones are right for your organization. You will walk away with your customized revenue diversification plan mapped out.
